Your daily LinkedIn post idea, by The Content Lab

Question: What was your worst hire?

Below is a rough example of what a post could look like for this prompt. Feel free to edit it to reflect your own experience.

Post Template:

Hook:

I once hired someone from McKinsey, and it completely slowed us down.

Tease:

On paper, they were perfect.

They had worked with Fortune 100 companies, led complex projects, and carried themselves with confidence and polish.

I thought bringing that level of structure into our startup would help us grow exponentially.

He did the opposite.

Every task started with a call, followed by a structured brief, and usually a few rounds of team alignment before he felt ready to begin.

He was gone after a month.

Value:

That failed hire made me realize that pedigree doesn’t equal startup fit.

What we needed, and what most startups need, is resourcefulness, speed, and a willingness to break things and learn.

Since then, I’ve prioritized people who can thrive in ambiguity, who default to action, and who see constraints as a creative challenge rather than a blocker.
