Question: What’s your outbound strategy?

Hook:

I’ve sent over 10,000 cold messages in my 4-year career.

Tease:

Started back when I had my own podcast, I’d make it a goal to DM at least 30 strangers a day just to line up new guests to interview.

Did that for about 6 months.

Value:

Then, about a year later, I started working for a tech media company. Got that job after DMing the founder. After ten months working there, I had a realization that financial news was boring, so I decided to DM one of the founding growth members at beehiiv, and we started a newsletter together.

Then I met Josh and for the past ~9 months, I’ve been sending 200+ outbound messages a week to potential clients.

My go-to lines now are as simple as they come:

1/ “What’s up legend!

2/ Was just reading up about the incredible work you’re doing at {company}. Would love to jam and see how I can be of value.”

The results are mixed, of course. But because I’ve been doing this for a while, I try to hold myself to one standard.
